Specifying Wall Weatherization Products that Comply with Building Code Fire Safety Provisions

Description:
This course addresses the use of membrane barriers and foam board insulation in commercial walls which are required to pass the NFPA 285 test.

 

Learning Objectives:
  1. Explain the benefits provided by air barrier membranes and foam insulation and best practices for their incorporation into exterior wall assemblies
  2. Explain the basic concepts of fire safety provisions in building code and how materials and assemblies of construction tie back to these
  3. Describe the material and assembly properties evaluated by NFPA 285, ASTM E119, and ASTM E84
  4. Know how to determine if NFPA 285 is required for a project and explain three ways to comply with the requirement
