Description:
This course addresses the use of membrane barriers and foam board insulation in commercial walls which are required to pass the NFPA 285 test.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the benefits provided by air barrier membranes and foam insulation and best practices for their incorporation into exterior wall assemblies
- Explain the basic concepts of fire safety provisions in building code and how materials and assemblies of construction tie back to these
- Describe the material and assembly properties evaluated by NFPA 285, ASTM E119, and ASTM E84
- Know how to determine if NFPA 285 is required for a project and explain three ways to comply with the requirement
